Brookvale Union Mid-Week Masters

1. Overview

The Brookvale Union Mid-Week Masters (Competition) is a weekly golf league hosted by Landers Pocket. By registering a team or entering as an individual player, all participants agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions.

2. Season Structure

• The Competition runs across an 8-week season: 7 regular season rounds plus the Grand Final.
• The Grand Final will be held following the completion of the regular season.
• Play takes place on Tuesday nights, with bays allocated for a 2-hour window (check-in from 5:45pm, tee-off at 6:15pm).

3. Teams & Eligibility

• Teams consist of 2–4 players.
• The minimum team size is 2 players; team handicaps are adjusted accordingly for teams of 2 or 3.
• Players wishing to enter without a team will be placed on a waitlist and matched with other solo entrants, to be notified by the Golf Experience Manager if they are able to be merged with another solo/team.
• Each team must register its players on the Team Registry. The Registry records each player’s name, handicap, and the number of regular season rounds they have played.
• Teams are responsible for keeping their Registry up to date, including adding any new player before their first round.

4. Entry & Pricing

• Season Ticket — $625 per team: includes entry to all 7 regular season rounds, plus entry to the Grand Final Night, should the team not qualify for the Grand Final.
• Weekly Drop-In — $125 per team, per week (fixed for teams of 2, 3 OR 4).
• Entry fees are due prior to play and are non-refundable except at Landers Pocket’s discretion.

5. Format

• Competition format is 9-hole Ambrose.
• The course selection rotates weekly across 4 courses per cycle (front 9 one week, back 9 the next).
• Official scorecards are issued weekly and must be returned by 7:45pm for that round’s results to be counted.

6. Handicapping

• Team handicap is calculated by combining each player’s individual handicap and dividing by 8 (teams of 3: divide by 6; teams of 2: divide by 4).
• Handicaps are based on each player’s AGWU/GolfLink handicap, halved to reflect the 9-hole format.
• Players without a registered handicap will be allocated an 18-hole handicap of 18 (9 for 9 Holes).
• Maximum individual handicap (men): 18 (9 for the 9-hole format) — enforced even where a player’s GA handicap exceeds 18.
• Maximum individual handicap (ladies): 32 (16 for the 9-hole format).
• Landers Pocket will use the Team Registry to monitor player handicaps and playing history, so that any handicap adjustments are accurate and fair.
• Teams that have previously played in the Golf League are an exception to the above, and will have a handicap calculated by the Golf Experience Manager based on past performance, and player retention.
• Landers Pocket reserves the right to adjust any team’s or player’s handicap as it sees fit, to ensure a fair and reasonable competition.
• Handicaps will not be adjusted until a team has played a minimum of 3 events.

7. Points System

Points are awarded weekly according to each team’s finishing position:

A live leaderboard tracking total points, rounds played and weekly winners is displayed in-venue and online.

8. Grand Final Qualification

• The 4 highest-ranked teams by total points after the regular season qualify for the Grand Final.
• In the event of a tie, qualification will be decided by (in order): (1) most regular season attendances, then (2) most 1st place finishes, then (3) most 2nd place finishes.
• Each player in a Grand Final team must have played a minimum of 4 regular season rounds for that team, as recorded on the Team Registry. Players who have not met this minimum are not eligible to play in the Grand Final.
• Teams must field 4 players in the Grand Final, each of whom meets the 4-round minimum above.
• A team unable to field 4 eligible players must play the Grand Final with 3 players. Their team handicap will still be calculated as for a team of 4.
• In extenuating circumstances, a team may be permitted a replacement player, subject to approval by the Golf Experience Manager at Landers Pocket.
• This requirement ensures handicaps reflect each player’s actual form and keeps the competition fair for all teams.

Prizes are non-transferable and cannot be redeemed for cash unless otherwise stated. Prize inclusions are subject to change and will be confirmed closer to the Grand Final.

10. Grand Final Event

• Season Ticket Holders who do not qualify for the Grand Final receive a ticket to the Grand Final Night, where they will play a regular-season-style round while the 4 qualified teams compete for the Grand Final prizes.

11. Conduct

• All players are expected to observe standard golf etiquette, pace of play, and behave respectfully toward other players, staff and patrons.
• Landers Pocket reserves the right to remove any player or team from the Competition for unsafe, unfair or disorderly conduct.

12. General

• Landers Pocket reserves the right to amend these Terms & Conditions, the competition format, schedule, or prizes at any time.
• Landers Pocket’s decision on all matters relating to scoring, handicaps, qualification and disputes is final.

Brookvale Union Mid-Week Masters

What is the Mid-Week Masters?

It’s Landers Pocket’s Tuesday night golf league — 9 holes of Ambrose, teams of 2–4, weekly points, and a Grand Final worth playing for. Competitive enough to matter, relaxed enough that you don’t need a collared shirt.

When does it run?

The season runs for 8 weeks — 7 regular rounds plus the Grand Final. Check-in is from 5:45pm each Tuesday, with tee-off at 6:15pm.

How many players do we need?

Teams of 2, 3 or 4. If you’re on your own, we’ll waitlist you and pair you up with another solo player — just let us know when you sign up.

What is the Team Registry?

New this season, every team has a Team Registry: a list of the players in your team, with each player’s handicap and how many rounds they’ve played. It helps us keep handicaps accurate and the competition fair, so make sure everyone who plays for your team is on it.

What format do we play?

9-hole Ambrose. The course rotates across 4 courses through the cycle, alternating front 9 and back 9 each week.

How much does it cost to play?

Two options:

• Season Ticket – $625 per team, covering all 7 regular season rounds. If your team doesn’t make the Grand Final, you still get a ticket to Grand Final Night and play a round of your own while the top 4 battle it out.
• Weekly Drop-In – $125 per team, per week. Fixed cost for Teams of 2, 3 OR 4.

Can we enter casually some weeks and skip others?

Yep — casual entry is pay-as-you-go at $125 per team, per week. Just keep in mind each player needs at least 4 regular season rounds on your Team Registry to be eligible to play in the Grand Final. If you have purchased Season tickets and will miss a week, simply advise Golf Experience Manager Sam – [email protected].

How is our team handicap worked out?

We combine each player’s individual handicap and divide by 8 for a team of 4 (divide by 6 for a team of 3, or by 4 for a team of 2). Handicaps are based on your AGWU/GolfLink handicap, halved to suit the 9-hole format.

What if I don’t have an official handicap?

You’ll be allocated a handicap of 9 (the 9-hole equivalent of 18).

Is there a maximum handicap?

Yes — 18 for men and 32 for ladies (9 and 16 respectively once halved for the 9-hole format). This applies even if your official GA handicap is higher than the respective maximums.

Can our handicap change during the season?

It can — Landers Pocket reserves the right to adjust handicaps to keep the competition fair. This won’t happen until your team has played at least 3 events, giving everyone a fair sample of results first.

How do points work?

Every week you’re competing for points based on where your team finishes:
1st – 15 | 2nd – 12 | 3rd – 10 | 4th – 9 | 5th – 8 | 6th – 7 | 7th – 6 | 8th – 5 | 9th – 4 | 10th and below – 3.

How do we make the Grand Final?

The top 4 teams on the points ladder after the regular season qualify. If there’s a tie, it’s broken first by who’s attended the most regular season rounds, then by who has the most 1st place finishes, then the most 2nd place finishes. Turning up every week pays off!

Is there a minimum number of rounds we need to play?

Yes — every player in your team needs to have played at least 4 regular season rounds, as recorded on your Team Registry, to be eligible to play in the Grand Final. This applies to each player, not just the team, so no ringers on Grand Final night! It keeps handicaps honest and gives every team a fair shot.

Do we need a full team for the Grand Final?

Yes — every Grand Final team must have 4 players, and each of them needs at least 4 regular season rounds on your Team Registry. If you can’t field 4 eligible players, you’ll play the Grand Final with 3, and your team handicap will still be worked out as if you had 4. In extenuating circumstances, the Golf Experience Manager may approve a replacement player. If you’re playing the season as a team of 2 or 3, add players to your Registry early so they can get their rounds in before the Grand Final.

What do we win each week?
