Our Coaches

Whether you are a beginner or avid golfer, our coaching staff will customise an individual program to maximise your golf experience and increase your enjoyment.

Our coaches are highly trained in all components of the game including full swing, putting, chipping, pitching, sand game, on course strategy, club fitting and formulating a game plan for you to reach your specific golfing goals both on the range and on the course.

We offer an extensive range of golf instruction packages and programs, all based on your skill level. Regardless of which package you select, all of our teacher’s are fully equipped to help you improve your game and move to the next level.

MATTHEW GUYATT – Teaching Professional

Matthew Guyatt is a former touring professional having played on numerous tours around the world including the European, Japanese, One Asian and Australasian tours. He is a former winner on the Australasian PGA Tour. After a career as a player he now resides at Golf Central sharing his experiences with golfers of all levels.

Matthew has spent time with some of worlds leading coaches and now shares his knowledge gained through these experiences with his clients.

“My coaching philosophy is to help my clients to better understand their patterns, tweak them where needed through TrackMan and Video technology, and all with the purpose of helping them to enjoy this awesome game more every time they play!”

BEVAN KIDD – Teaching Professional

Bevan completed his P.G.A traineeship at the picturesque Queenstown Golf Club in New Zealand. He graduated as a full member in 2002 and that same year he traveled to Slovenia and Croatia where he spent his time teaching at Grad Mokrice Golf Course in Slovenia for a summer season before returning to Queenstown. Bevan was the Head Teaching Professional at Millbrook Resort in Arrowtown for five years where he would conduct private lessons to both members and guests as well as operating the resorts popular five day golf improvement schools.

During this time he would work for 7-8 months in New Zealand and for several years return to coach in Slovenia. He spent a couple of seasons coaching in the north of Italy and operating a golf equipment distribution business based in San Zenone Degli Ezzelini near Treviso.

DARREN WEATHERALL – Teaching Professional

Darren Weatherall’s expertise, easy to apply methods and friendly approach have seen him quickly become one of the most in demand coaches in south east Queensland.    His teaching method has proven results with a variety of golfers, from beginners all the way to his touring professionals including Ray Beaufils (PGA Tour China).

Darren is a former playing professional and Director of Instruction at Parkwood International Golf Course.  His knowledge and methods have been created through working with experts in sports performance including Ian Triggs and sports psychologist Dr. Noel Blundell with research and training at the Jim McLean Academy in the United States. Darren is well educated and represents one of Australia finest young coaches, he has great communication skills and understands the many facets of golf coaching with a natural ability of bringing out the best is his students.

WAYNE PERSKE – Teaching Professional

Wayne is a former International Tour Player with over 15 years experience in Professional tournaments all over the world. He has a passion for the game and brings a wealth of experience and knowledge to the Golf Central coaching team.

As an Amateur, Wayne represented Queensland and Australia, winning multiple events before turning Professional in 2000. He started his career with a win in his very first start on the Australasian Tour, winning the Eastern Australian Airlines Open. He then progressed onto the lucrative Japanese Tour and had his first win at the 2006 Token Homemate Cup, earning him a spot in the British Open at Hoylake that same year.

Wayne is passionate about teaching all ages and abilities of golfer. He can be found on the driving range at Golf Central assisting players in how to effectively practice and improve all aspects of their short games. He has a particular strength in on-course management and playing strategies, both of which are key components in lowering scores and handicaps, and vital in becoming a better player during competitive rounds.
